Kernel — Privacy Policy

Kernel is a cornhole scoring app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. Questions: privacy@kerneltoss.com.
What we collect
- Account info — your email address and the display name you choose.
- Sign-in identifiers — if you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive a stable account identifier and your email from that provider. We never receive your Google/Apple password.
- Gameplay data — matches you score: scores, rounds, per-bag results, and your derived skill rating (POP).
- Precise location — only if you turn on "nearby games." Your device's GPS location is sent to our server to show games happening near you, and stored with a game you host so nearby players can find it. The rest of the app works without it, and you can turn it off in your device settings.
- Subscription status — if you subscribe to Kernel Pro, our payments provider (RevenueCat) processes the purchase and gives us your subscription status tied to your account. Payment is handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play; we never see your card details.
- Authentication tokens — a session token so you stay signed in.
We do not collect your contacts, advertising identifiers, or device sensors, we do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
How we use it
- Create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- Score games and compute your stats, head-to-head records, leaderboards, and rating.
- If you enable nearby games, use your location to show games near you and let nearby players find a game you host.
- Send sign-in codes and account-verification emails.
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Who processes it
We share data only with service providers that operate the app on our behalf:
- Google / Apple — only when you choose to sign in with them, to authenticate you.
- Email delivery provider — to send your sign-in and verification emails (your email address and the message).
- RevenueCat — to manage Kernel Pro subscriptions; it receives a Kernel account identifier and your subscription status.
- Hosting / database provider — to store your account and gameplay data.
Retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Delete Account) or by emailing privacy@kerneltoss.com from your account email.
Deletion permanently removes your account, sign-in identifiers, stats, and rating. Your past match records are retained for the other players in those games, with your name replaced by "Deleted player."
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Sign-in is passwordless (one-time email codes or Google/Apple), so we never store a password for your account.
Children
Kernel is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact privacy@kerneltoss.com and we will delete it.
Changes
We'll update this page and the "Last updated" date when this policy changes.
